## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 5/27/2023, THE HIGHLANDER WAS PARTICIPATING IN THE^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAIVERED EVENT AT THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AT WAYNE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT/STAN MORRIS FIELD (KLCG) IN WAYNE, NE. WHEN HOLDING SHORT OF THE RACE STARTING LINE, AND WITH THE COUNTDOWN TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE RACE BEGINNING, THE PILOT INCREASED ENGINE THROTTLE WHILE ENGAGING THE MAIN LANDING GEAR WHEEL BRAKES. THIS CAUSED THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT TO RISE AGGRESSIVELY AS THE AIRCRAFT PITCHED ABOUT ITS MAIN LANDING GEAR WHEELS. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE TAIL RISE BY REDUCING THROTTLE TO IDLE, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF AERODYNAMIC EFFECTIVENESS OF THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER. MOMENTUM CONTINUED TO PITCH THE AIRCRAFT ABOUT ITS MAIN LANDING GEAR WHEELS, RESULTING IN THE PROPELLER MAKING CONTACT WITH THE GROUND, AND THE AIRCRAFT COMING TO REST ON ITS NOSE. GROUND CONTACT OF THE PROPELLER CAUSED ONE OF THE THREE BLADES TO SEPARATE NEAR THE HUB OF THE PROPELLER, AND ANOTHER OF THE THREE BLADES TO SEPARATE NEAR THE PROPELLER TIP. NO OTHER PHYSICAL DAMAGE OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
