## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 5/31/2023 AN EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS DOING TOUCH AND GOS AT CANON CITY, COLORADO. THE AIRCRAFT WAS PILOTED BY THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WHO WAS FLYING RIGHT SEAT. AFTER AIRCRAFT ROTATED FOR TAKE OFF THE COPILOTS RIGHT HAND RUDDER PEDAL FAILED AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME DOWN BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND THE TAXIWAY ON A GRASS STRIP. NO INJURIES OCCURED AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. FLIGHT CONTROL CONINTUITY WAS ACCOMPLISHED AND ALL CABLES WERE GOOD. RUDDER BAR MOVED ALL THE PEDALS BUT THE BROKEN RH COPILOT PEDAL. NTSB HAS DETERMINED THIS TO BE AN ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA211](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA211), May 31, 2023: W10 Tailwind (N456TW), Penrose, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the right rudder pedal stop due to an inadequate weld, which resulted in a loss of control on the ground.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
