## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC WAS ON THE THIRD FLIGHT AFTER COMPLETING THE AIRCRAFT BUILD AND WAS IN PHASE I FLIGHT TESTING. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, THE AIRCRAFT HAD A TOTAL OF 2.4 HOURS, ALL FLOWN BY THE SAME PIC. THE PURPOSE OF THIS FLIGHT WAS TO WORK ON LANDINGS UTILIZING RUNWAY 13. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, THERE WAS A LIGHT CROSSWIND FROM THE LEFT. THE PIC STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS CRABBING LEFT. THE PIC STATED THAT HE FLARED A LITTLE HIGH AND HAD A HARD LANDING, FOLLOWED BY A BOUNCE. THE AIRCRAFT EXITED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY 13, APPROXIMATELY 1700’ FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 13. THIS RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AS THE FLOOR OF THE AIRCRAFT, NEAR THE RUDDER PEDALS WAS COMPROMISED. ADDITIONALLY, THE LEFT SLAT WAS PUSHED INBOARD, THE NOSE GEAR WAS BENT AND THE PROPELLER WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA215](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA215), Jun 1, 2023: Zenith 750 (N827LC), Forest Lake, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain aircraft control during the approach to land that resulted in an excessive descent rate and impact with the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
