## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING LANDING ON GRASS STRIP AT SN61, THE RIGHT TIRE FAILED ON LANDING ROLLOUT CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT NOSE TO PITCH FORWARD STRIKING THE GROUND WITH THE PROPELLER AND SPINNER. AS THE AIRCRAFT ENERGY DEPLETED AND THE TAIL CAME BACK DOWN, THE RIGHT WING STRUCK, SPINNING THE AIRCRAFT AROUND APPROXIMATELY 135 DEGREES BEFORE COMING TO A STOP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA222](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA222), Jun 3, 2023: Pitts S-2S (N1PW), Garden Plain, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s inability to maintain directional control during landing roll due to a flat tire.

## Other reports on N1PW (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19920618025129I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920618025129I), Jun 18, 1992: Child S2PITTS (N1PW), Olathe, KS. Tail wheel failed on landing roll. No damage to aircraft.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
