AIRCRAFT TOOK OFF FROM A MOUNTAIN TOP AIRSTRIP WITH REPORTED TAIL/VARYING WINDS. ON TAKEOFF THE AIRCRAFT HIT A SMALL GROUP OF TREES WITH THE LEFT REAR STABILIZER. THE LARGEST TREE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES IN DIAMETER. PAINT TRANSFER WAS EVIDENT ON THE TREE AND BARK FROM THE TREE WAS DISCOVERED IN THE DAMAGED AREA OF THE STABILIZER. THE PIC LOST CONTROL AND THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND APPROXIMATELY A QUARTER MILE FROM WHERE IT TOOK OFF.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
