## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 16TH, 2023 AT APPROXIMATELY 14:45 EASTERN TIME,^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, A DIAMOND DA-20 AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 36 AT THE SKY KING AIRPORT (3I3). THE FLIGHT WAS BEING CONDUCTED AS A 14 CFR PART §141 FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOO HIGH WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 36, NOT ALLOWING FOR PROPER DESCENT AND APPROACH SPEED FOR LANDING ON THE 1,978’ LONG RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN NEAR THE HALFWAY POINT OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT APPLIED FULL BRAKES, LOCKING UP BOTH TIRES. AN ATTEMPT TO ABORT THE LANDING AND TO TAKEOFF WAS INITIATED. THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO BECOME AIRBORNE AFTER PASSING THE NORTH END OF RUNWAY 36. THE AIRCRAFT’S MAIN WHEELS CAME IN TO CONTACT WITH CORN STALKS WHICH SLOWED THE AIRCRAFT CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO LAND IN THE CORN FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 40 YARDS TO THE NORTH OF THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 36. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE FLIGHT CREW.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
