## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, HE WAS TAKING ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ FOR A PART 91 PERSONAL FLIGHT. THE PILOTS INTENTION WAS TO INITIATE AND TERMINATE THE FLIGHT AT THE PILOTS OWN GRASS RUNWAY. THE LENGTH OF THE RUNWAY IS APPROXIMATELY 1320 FEET LAID IN AN APPROXIMATE NORTH SOUTH CONFIGURATION. THE NORTH END OF THE RUNWAY HAS TREES APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET TALL THAT COME RIGHT UP TO THE RUNWAY. THE SOUTH END HAS AN OPEN FIELD WITH UNCUT WEEDS APPROXIMATELY TWO TO THREE FEET TALL. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN JUST BEYOND THE 1/2 WAY POINT OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT BEFORE REACHING THE SOUTH END AND CONSEQUENTLY ENTERED THE NEIGHBORING FIELD WHERE IT FLIPPED OVER AND CAME TO REST IN AN INVERTED POSITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA242](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA242), Jun 17, 2023: Tipton Kitfox Kitfox IV (N4287Y), Odessa, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to attain the proper touchdown speed, which resulted in a runway excursion and subsequent nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
