## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 28, 2023, AT APPROXIMATELY 0850 MDT, A T41 (R172E) AIRCRAFT WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AT THE ALAMOGORDO, NM AIRPORT, KALM. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT DURING LANDING HE TOUCHED DOWN ON THE RUNWAY AT TOO FAST AN AIRSPEED (75+ KNOTS), PORPOISED MULTIPLE TIMES RESULTING IN A BLOWN NOSE-GEAR TIRE AND A PROPELLOR STRIKE (OVERALL SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT). THE PILOT REPORTED (AND AN FAA AIRWORTHINESS INSPECTOR LATER CONFIRMED) THERE WERE NO PRE-ACCIDENT MECHANICAL MALFUNCTIONS OR FAILURES WITH THE AIRPLANE THAT WOULD HAVE PRECLUDED NORMAL OPERATION. NO FAA FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, KHMN. THE FAA PRIVATE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR23LA365](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR23LA365), Jun 28, 2023: Cessna R172E (N7881N), Alamogordo, NM, substantial damage. Probable cause: Failure of the pilot to maintain control of the airplane during the landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
