## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 1, 2023, AT 1000 MST, A MOONEY M20, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, LANDED SHORT OF THE RUNWAY AND STRUCK A BERM, CAUSING THE LANDING GEAR TO COLLAPSE. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME, AND A VFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS NOT FILED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE, AND THE CERTIFICATED PRIVATE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT EL PASO, TX, ON JULY 1, 2023, AT ABOUT 0940 MST.

THE INVESTIGATION DETERMINED THE PILOT LANDED JUST SHORT OF THE RUNWAY AND THE NOSE LANDING GEAR STRUCK A SMALL DIRT BERM. THE JOHNSON-BAR BROKE AND THE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED. THE AIRCRAFT SKIDDED ON THE RUNWAY. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF MECHANICAL ISSUES.

## Other reports on N6223U (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19910222007089I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910222007089I), Feb 22, 1991: Mooney M20C (N6223U), Jamul, CA, Minor damage. Engine failure. Forced landing in open field. Found a fractured propeller governor external oil line.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
