## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT DEPARTED LXT ON A RECREATIONAL FLIGHT THAT LASTED APPROXIMATELY 1.0 HR. UPON HIS RETURN TO LXT, HE STATED THAT HE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER LANDING ROLLOUT AND TAXI HOLD, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND HE AND HIS PASSENGER EXITED THE AIRCRAFT. THE PASSENGER LEFT THE AIRCRAFT TO GET THE ATTENTION OF GROUND PERSONNEL WHILE THE PILOT REMAINED WITH THE AIRCRAFT AND ATTEMPTED TO RETRIEVE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER FROM THE AIRCRAFT. UNABLE TO RETRIEVE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER, THE AIRCRAFT WAS OVERCOME WITH FLAMES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY DESTROYED BY FIRE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FORWARD OF THE FIREWALL, AND FUSELAGE DAMAGE TO THE COCKPIT AREA OF THE AIRCRAFT.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
