## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED DURING HIS PREFLIGHT, FOR DEPARTURE FROM LEBANON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KLEB) NH, HE NOTICED THE MASTER SWITCH (BATT) WAS ON. HE REALIZED WHEN HE LEFT THE AIRCRAFT TWO DAYS PRIOR, HE HAD LEFT THE BATTERY SWITCH ON. THE BATTERY WAS DEAD, SO HE GOT ASSISTANCE FROM THE LINE CREW AT THE LOCAL FBO FOR A JUMP. THE ENGINE STARTED WITH NO PROBLEM, AND HE BEGAN TO SET UP THE AVIONICS FOR THE FLIGHT. THE BATTERY SEEMED TO BE CHARGING NORMALLY AT 13 VOLTS AND AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES ON THE RAMP HE CALLED FOR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS FOR DEPARTURE. AFTER TAKEOFF A FEW MILES OFF THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 18, HE WAS INSTRUCTED TO CONTACT BOSTON CENTER FOR FLIGHT FOLLOWING. AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES SOUTH OF THE FIELD AND PASSING 5,500 FT, HE NOTICED HIS INSTRUMENT PANEL DIMMING AND THE VOLTMETER WAS SHOWING 10 VOLTS. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, CENTER STATED RADAR CONTACT LOST. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHUTDOWN. HE IMMEDIATELY TURNED BACK TO KLEB AND TRIED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE SITUATION. ENROUTE TO KLEB, HE NOTICED THE ALTERNATOR CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS POPPED. HE RESET THE CIRCUIT BREAKER WHILE CIRCLING HIGH ABOVE KLEB. HE CONTACTED WITH THE TOWER, DECLARED AN EMERGENCY FOR ELECTRICAL FAILURE, AND WAS GIVEN A CLEARANCE TO LAND ON RUNWAY 18. HE ATTEMPTED TO LOWER THE GEAR ELECTRICALLY, BUT IT KEPT POPPING THE ALTERNATOR CIRCUIT BREAKER, THUS BLACKING OUT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL YET AGAIN. HE DID AN EMERGENCY GEAR DUMP BUT WAS UNABLE TO SECURE THE NOSE GEAR AS TO THE PINNING ROD REQUIRED FOR SECURING THE NOSE GEAR FOR AN EMERGENCY GEAR DUMP, WAS IN THE BACK SEAT. HE INFORMED THE TOWER THAT HE WAS NOT GETTING A GREEN NOSE GEAR LIGHT AND THEY STATED IT APPEARED TO BE DOWN. DUE TO THE FACT HE COULD NOT GET THE NOSE GEAR ROD INSTALLED, THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED A COUPLE SECONDS AFTER TOUCHDOWN ON RUNWAY 18. THE AIRCRAFT SLID ON ITS NOSE FOR APPROXIMATELY 500 FT. HE DEPLANED THE AIRCRAFT UPON REST AND AWAITED CRASH FIRE RESCUE SERVICES TO SHOW UP.
