## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 28, 2023 THE REMOTE PIC WAS CONDUCTING A FLIGHT FOR DATA COLLECTION WITH A SECOND OPERATOR ON THE CONTROLS. THE RPIC STATED THE OPERATOR PERFORMED DATA CHECKS BEFORE FLIGHT. THE UAS BEGAN TO CLIMB BUT WITHIN 2 SECONDS, BANKED RIGHT AND STRUCK THE VAN THE RPIC AND OPERATOR ARRIVED IN. THE RPIC REPORTED MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE VAN, JUST A DENT AND SOME SCRATCHES. THE RPIC STATED HE WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE VAN WITH NO VISUAL ON THE UAS WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
