## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

8-7-2023 THE LINCOLN NEBRASKA FSDO WAS NOTIFIED OF A PART 137 DRONE ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED 3 MILES NORTH OF RICHLAND, NEBRASKA. THE DRONE OPERATOR SURVEILED THE FIELD PRIOR TO SPRAYING AND PROGRAMED THE DRONE ACCORDINGLY. THE DRONE WAS SPRAYING IN AUTOMATION MODE WHEN IT ENCOUNTERD A PIVOT, DRONE INCREASED ALTITUDE TO AVOID THE PIVOT AND STRUCK A SAGGING POWER LINE WIRE ABOVE IT. THE OPERATOR'S VISUAL OBSERVER WAS PRE-OCCUPIED AT THE TIME AND NOT FOCUSED ON THE OPERATION.

WHEN DOING THE PREFLIGHT THE OPERATOR DIDN'T TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE HEIGHT OF THE POWER LINES AND PIVOT TO PROPERLY PROGRAM THE DRONE FOR AVOIDANCE.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
