## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 8/2/2023 A CESSNA 177RG LANDED GEAR UP AT THE BURLINGTON ALAMANCE REGIONAL AIRPORT ON RUNWAY 24. THE PLANE WAS OPERATED BY AN ATP PILOT WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT ON BOARD AND HAD NO REPORTED INJURIES. THE PILOT STATED THAT THEY HAD BECOME DISTRACTED DURING THE FLIGHT AND FAILED TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR. MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE LANDING GEAR WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE GEAR HORN DID NOT SOUND AND THE GEAR HORN WAS CONFIRMED TO BE INOPERATIVE WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS INSPECTED AT A MAINTENANCE FACILITY AFTER THE INCIDENT. SEVERAL WITNESSES REPORTED THAT THEY SAW THE GEAR HANDLE IN THE UP POSITION SHORTLY AFTER THE AIRCRAFT HAD LANDED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
