## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS COMPLETING A SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT TOWARDS HIS HOUR AND LANDING REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A COMMERICAL PILOT CERTIFICATE.

UPON ARRIVAL AT HIS DESTINATION AIRPORT, THE PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING A LANDING ON RUNWAY19 AT WACO REGIONAL AIRPORT (KACT). THE PILOT LANDED NOSE FIRST LEADING TO A HARD LANDING. AIRPORT OPERATIONS REPORTED NO DAMAGE TO THE RUNWAY AND THE PILOT WAS TOWED BACK TO FBO VIA A NOSE WHEEL DOLLY.

PILOT BOUNCED AFTER MAKING IMPACT WITH THE RUNWAY AND AFTER RECOVERING FROM PORPOISING, HE BROUGHT THE AIRCRAFT TO A COMPLETE STOP.

AFTER THE FLIGHT SCHOOL MECHANIC STARTED THE INSPECTION PROCESS, ALONG WITH CORDIANTION WITH THE NTSB, A DETERMINATION WAS MADE THAT THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA355](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA355), Aug 7, 2023: Cessna 172S (N6319G), Waco, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The solo student pilot’s improper descent path which resulted in a hard landing on the nose wheel and subsequent bounced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
