## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON TAKEOFF ROLL, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A SEVERE SHIMMY. THE PILOT ABORTED THE TAKEOFF. UPON BRAKING, THE TAILWHEEL ASSEMBLY COLLAPSED, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER TO THE RIGHT AND EXPERIENCE A GROUND LOOP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN23LA365](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN23LA365), Aug 11, 2023: Cessna A188B (N9237R), Chillicothe, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s decision to operate the airplane with a known tailwheel anomaly, which resulted in a loss of directional control.

## Other reports on N9237R (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19810806064729I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19810806064729I), Aug 6, 1981: Cessna A188B (N9237R), Buffalo, WY, Minor damage. Landing ok. Ran off runway hit a hole broke off main gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
