## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUG 28TH, AT APPROXIMATELY 12:00PM AKST, THE PILOT WAS TAKING OFF TO THE EAST FROM THE LONG BEACH IN CHINITNA BAY IN A WHEELED-EQUIPPED CESSNA U206F. ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT THE AIRCRAFT WAS PULLED TOWARDS THE LEFT DUE TO SOFT SAND. THE PILOT PULLED BACK THE THROTTLE TO REDUCE POWER, MANEUVERED THE AIRCRAFT FURTHER DOWN THE SLOPED BEACH TO A HARDER PACK SURFACE AND SET UP TO TAKE OFF AGAIN. ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT, PRIOR TO V1, JUST UPON ROTATION, THE RIGHT WHEEL OF THE AIRCRAFT MADE CONTACT WITH THE WATER CAUSING A PULL TO THE RIGHT. THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE WATER AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP WHEN THE NOSE WAS FORCED DOWNWARD INTO THE WATER. THE PILOT SECURED THE ENGINE AND HELPED ALL THE PASSENGERS EXIT THE AIRCRAFT SAFELY. NO ONE WAS INJURED. WITH ASSISTANCE, THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED OUT OF THE WATER AND SAFELY SECURED ON THE BEACH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC23LA067](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC23LA067), Aug 28, 2023: Cessna U206F (N1733R), Chinitna Bay, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control on takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
