## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 8/30/2023 AT APPROXIMATELY 1400AKDT, THE PILOT OF LANDED THE PA-18-150 AT A REMOTE LANDING AREA KNOWN AS PEAVINE. AFTER TOUCHDOWN THE PILOT STATED HE APPLIED TOO MUCH BRAKING AND CAUSED THE AIRPLANE TO FLIP ON ITS BACK. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE WEATHER WAS GOOD, WINDS WERE CALM AND HE WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE LANDING AREA. THE LANDING AREA WAS LONG ENOUGH THAT HE COULD EASILY LAND WITHOUT USING BRAKES. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE NORMALLY FLIES A MAULE AND THE BRAKES ON THE MAULE ARE TOE VERSUS THE HEEL BRAKES AND THE PA-18 BRAKES ARE STRONGER. THE PRIMARY FACTOR ACCORDING TO THE AIRMAN WAS HE MADE A MISTAKE IN THE USE OF THE BRAKES. A CONTRIBUTING TECHNICAL FACTOR WAS THE AIRCRAFT DESIGN OF HEEL BRAKES COMPARED TO TOE BRAKES FOR WHICH THE AIRMAN HAD MORE PROFICIENCY.
