## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THE AIRCRAFT PRODUCED NORMAL TAKEOFF POWER AND DEPARTED THE RUNWAY WITHOUT ISSUE BUT SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTING RUNWAY 22 AT 4MB THE ENGINE SLOWLY LOST POWER FOR UNKNOWN REASONS AND THE PILOT PERFORMED AN EMERGENCY ENGINE OUT LANDING IN A FIELD NEAR THE AIRPORT. THE PILOT STATED HE ATTEMPTED A RESTART TWICE BUT THEN DETERMINED HE HAD MININAL TIME TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING AND PRUDENTLY DID SO.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA23LA360](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA23LA360), Sep 1, 2023: Brown Benjamin C Challenger II (N2480Y), Moultonborough, NH, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power due to a loss of compression in one of the engine’s two cylinders.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
