## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING LANDING PATTERN, AIRCRAFT 1 WAS POSITIONED ON A LEFT BASE FOR RWY 8 WITH LANDING GEAR DOWN. AIRCRAFT 1 HAD MADE A RADIO CALL DECLARING HIS POSITION IN THE LANDING PATTERN. AIRCRAFT 2 WAS IN THE LEFT DOWNWIND FOR RWY 8 AND HAD MADE A RADIO CALL DECLARING HIS POSITION IN THE LANDING PATTERN. AIRCRAFT 2 STRUCK THE PORT SIDE OF AIRCRAFT 1 FROM THE LEFT QUARTERNING POSITION JUST BEHIND THE LEFT WING OF AIRCRAFT 1, SHEARING THE TAIL SECTION OFF OF AIRCRAFT 1. AIRCRAFT 1 IMMEDIATELY ENTERED A STEEP DIVE AND CRASHED IN A NEAR-VERTICAL ATTITUDE. AIRCRAFT 2 PROCEEDED IN A SHALLOW DIVE STRAIGHT AHEAD AND EVENTUALLY CRASHED TO THE WEST.
