## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT INTO THE WIND (WEST TO EAST) ON THE RIVER AND PERFORMED A NORMAL TAKE-OFF CONTINUING EAST. DURING THE NORMAL TAKE-OFF ASCENT THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A POWER LINE THAT CROSSED THE FULL SPAN OF THE RIVER. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE DID NOT NOTICE THE POWER LINE. THE PILOT STATED THE AIRCRAFT WENT DOWN INTO THE WATER. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER EVACUATED THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE EVALUATED AT THE HOSPITAL AND ONLY INCURRED MINOR INJURIES. A POWER COMPANY RESPONDED AND REPAIRED THE POWER LINE. BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT AMPHIBIOUS FLOATS DETACHED FROM AIRCRAFT FUSELAGE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RECOVERED AND TRANSPORTED TO A HANGAR AT TDZ. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED NOTICABLE DAMAGE TO THE NOSE, ENGINE, COCKPIT WINDSHIELD, COCKPIT DOORS, WINGS AND STRUTS, FLOATS, AND FUSELAGE. THE TAIL SECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT DETACHED DURING RECOVERY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA23LA385](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA23LA385), Sep 30, 2023: Cessna T206 (N34PL), Port Clinton, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to detect and avoid unmarked powerline(s) while attempting to take off from a river.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
