## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS FLYING A LOCAL FLIGHT WITH PASSENGER AT KTVL. WINDS WERE REPORTED VARIABLE AT 5-10 KNOTS. PILOT NOTICED WINDSOCK ON SHORT FINAL INDICATING A SLIGHT TAILWIND/CROSSWIND AND CONTINUED APPROACH. PILOT LANDED THE TAIL WHEELED AIRCRAFT AND WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN RUNWAY HEADING/ALIGNMENT. THE PLANE DEPARTED THE RUNWAY AND THE PILOT APPLIED AGGRESSIVE BRAKING. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO GROUND LOOP AND THE BRAKING ACTION CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO COME UP ON ITS NOSE WHILE THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON ITS NOSE. DAMAGE TO PROPELLER, SPINNER, AND NOSE FAIRINGS. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO RIGHT WING AND CONTROL SURFACES AND RIGHT ELEVATOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA007](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA007), Oct 5, 2023: Scott And Laura Hoisington CCX-2000 (N531SL), South Lake Tahoe, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of directional control during landing roll, which resulted in a ground loop and collision with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
