## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 15, 2023, THE PILOT OF A CIRRUS 22, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, WAS FLYING FROM OSHAWA EXECUTIVE AIRPORT, CANADA (CYOO) TO CHICAGO MIDWAY AIRPORT, IL (KMDW) WHEN APROXIMATELY 10NM SOUTH OF SOUTH BEND INTL' AIRPORT, IN (KSBN) THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. THE PILOT STATED HE FIRST BEGAN TO LOOSE OIL PRESSURE THEN THEN ENGINE SIEZED. THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND ATTEMPTED TO GLIDE TO KSBN. WHEN THE PILOT REALIZED HE WAS UNABLE TO GLIDE TO KSBN HE DEPLOYED THE AIRCRAFT EMERGENCY PARACHUTE. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN IN A CORN FIELD 2NM SOUTH OF KSBN. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS MINOR. UPON INSPECTION OIL RESIDUE WAS FOUND ALONG THE ENTIRE BELLY OF THE AIRCRAFT. DURING THIS INVESTIGATION THE ENGINE LEFT WASTE GATE ACTUATOR OIL LINE WAS FOUND LOOSE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
