## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD BEEN DOING PRACTICE LANDINGS ON RWY 18R AND HAD CONDUCTED ONE LANDING PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. HE STATED HE PERFORMED A NORMAL LANDING WITH SLOW APPLICATION OF BRAKES AND FELT THE AIRCRAFT START TO PULL HARD TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT APPLIED FULL APPLICATION OF RIGHT RUDDER AND WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL ON THE RUNWAY. AFTER EXITING THE AIRCRAFT, THE PILOT OBSERVED THAT THE LEFT TIRE WAS FLAT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED BACK TO THE FLIGHT SCHOOL WITHOUT FURTHER ISSUE.

ON SCENE INSPECTION OF TIRE AT FLIGHT SCHOOL NOTED WORN TIRE TREAD APPROXIMATELY 3" IN LENGTH DOWN TO THE CORD. PILOT WAS ASKED TO VERIFY TYPE OF LANDING AND BRAKE APPLICATION. HE STATED HE HAD PERFORMED A NORMAL LANDING, WITH NORMAL APPLICATION OF BRAKES AND DID NOT APPLY EXCESSIVE BRAKES ON EITHER OF THE TWO LANDINGS PERFORMED THAT DAY. PILOT ALSO STATED HE HAD PERFORMED A PREFLIGHT INSPECTION PRIOR TO DEPARTURE AND DID NOT NOTE ANY WORN TIRE TREAD BUT THAT PERHAPS IT HAD BEEN LOCATED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TIRE WHERE HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SEE IT.

SPOKE WITH ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^OF FLIGHT SCHOOL AND REQUESTED MAINTENANCE RECORDS ONCE TIRE HAD BEEN INSPECTED AND REPLACED. RECEIVED RECORDS AND NOTED AIRCRAFT HAD A CURRENT 100-HR INSPECTION AND THAT TIRE, TUBE, AND WHEEL ASSEMBLY WERE REPLACED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
