## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AUTOGYRO AIRCRAFT TAXIED FOR DEPARTURE AT THE KNYL AIRPORT. THE PURPOSE OF THE FLIGHT WAS TO PRACTICE TOUCH-AND-GO LANDINGS. AFTER THE FINAL LANDING AND WHILE ON RUNWAY 35, THE AUTOGYRO ENCOUNTERED A WIND DUST-DEVIL. THESE WIND GUSTS BLEW THE AIRCRAFT OFF THE RUNWAY AND INTO THE GRASS AREA ADJACENT TO THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE RUNWAY 3L/21R ENTRY SIGN CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT'S CARBON FIBER FUSELAGE, NOSE GEAR AND LEFT MAIN GEAR. NEITHER PIC NOR PASSENGER WERE HURT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA044](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA044), Nov 17, 2023: Theodore C Kalman ELA Eclipse 10 (N82TK), Yuma, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing, which resulted in a runway excursion and collision with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
