## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON NOVEMBER 22, 2023, ON OR ABOUT 1812Z, AERONCA 7A, WAS LANDING RUNWAY 36 AT DEWITT MUNICIPAL AIRPORT/WHITCOMB FIELD. THE PILOT STATED A CROSSWIND PUSHED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT INTO THE DITCH WHERE THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR BROKE, TURNED THE AIRCRAFT AND WENT ACROSS THE TAXIWAY INTO A FENCE FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THIS CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. SURFACE ANALYSIS CHARTS AND LOCAL METAR REPORTS INDICATED MINOR PRESSURE CHANGES ACROSS THE REGION WITH A HIGH PRESSURE MOVING IN FROM THE WEST, NORTHWEST WINDS AROUND 6-7 KNOTS. BOTH PILOT AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN24LA044](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN24LA044), Nov 22, 2023: Aeronca 7AC (N84692), DeWitt, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of airplane directional control while landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
