## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 06, 2023 AT APPROXIMATELY 1345 MST, AN UNPOWERED PARAGLIDER CRASHED SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF ROUGHLY 3 MILES WEST OF BOULDER MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (BDU), COLORADO RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURIES TO THE PILOT. THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS ONBOARD AND NO PERSONS, VEHICLES OR STRUCTURES WERE IMPACTED ON THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING OPERATED AS A PART 103 PERSONAL FLIGHT THAT DEPARTED FROM FOOTHILL PARK, A LOCAL GLIDER LAUNCH AREA IN BOULDER, COLORADO.

PILOT STATED THEY HAVE A P2 (NOVICE PARAGLIDING RATING) FROM THE UNITED STATES HANG GLIDING AND PARAGLIDING ASSOCIATION, INC. WITH APPROXIMATELY 300 FLIGHTS OF PARAGLIDING EXPERIENCE ON FIVE DIFFERENT ‘WINGS’.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
