## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS PERFORMING TOUCH AND GOES AT KAHULUI AIRPORT. DURING SIXTH APPROACH, AIRCRAFT LOST ENGINE POWER AT APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET AND 1 MILE FROM THE RUNWAY. AIRCRAFT LANDED IN SAND IN THE KANAHA POND STATE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY. DAMAGE ASSESSMENT IS STILL UNDERWAY. INITIAL DAMAGE APPEARS LIMITED TO NOSE LANDING GEAR, TOP OF VERTICAL STAB, AND RUDDER. FURTHER INSPECTION IDENTIFIED THAT THE DAMAGE WAS TRANSFERRED DOWN THROUGH THE STAB INTO THE TAIL FUSELAGE CAUSING CRUMPLING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TAIL RAISING THIS TO SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AND AN ACCIDENT.
