## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING ROLL-OUT AFTER NORMAL STABILIZED LANDING BOTH PILOT AND PASSENGER HEARD A POP OR THUD. WITH THE APPLICATION OF BRAKES, THE AIRPLANE SPUN AROUND TO THE LEFT AND CAME TO A STOP FACING APPROXIMATELY 180 DEGREES FROM DIRECTION OF LANDING. WHEN PILOT AND PASSENGER EXITED FROM THE AIRPLANE THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR WAS OBSERVED TO HAVE COLLAPSED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN24LA081](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN24LA081), Dec 29, 2023: Maule M-6-235 (N71MS), Beaumont, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing in crosswind conditions, which resulted in a ground loop on the runway.

## Other reports on N71MS (2)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19850201009499I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19850201009499I), Feb 1, 1985: Maule M6235 (N71MS), Miami, FL, Minor damage. Weathervaned and pilot used improper controls. A factor also could have been a semi flat tail wheel tire.
- [Accident 19840411016309A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19840411016309A), Apr 11, 1984: Maule M6235 (N71MS), New Orleans, LA, Substantial damage. Pilot lost directional control of aircraft during landing roll collapsing right gear and dragging wing tip.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
