## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JANUARY 24, 2024, AT 0635 LOCAL TIME, AN ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ 747-8F SUFFERED AN ENGINE POD STRIKE ON THE #4 ENGINE ON AN ATTEMPTED LANDING AND SUBSEQUENT GO-AROUND AT TED STEVENS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN ANCHORAGE, AK. THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE REPORTED AS CALM WINDS WITH 1 STATUTE MILE OF VISIBILITY. THE APPROACH WAS FLOWN WITH AUTOPILOT ENGAGED UNTIL 300 FT. ONCE DISENGAGED, THE PF MADE A LEFT ROLL INPUT TO LINE THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE. HOWEVER, THE AIRCRAFT OVERSHOT THE CENTERLINE AND LANDED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. AT THE INITIAL TOUCHDOWN, PER COMPANY FLIGHT DATA MONITORING (FDM) THE PF ADDED RIGHT RUDDER WITH THE AILERONS IN A NEUTRAL POSITION, IN AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT TO THE CENTERLINE. THE MAIN LANDING GEAR TOUCHED DOWN ON RUNWAY 07R FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 SECONDS, THEN THE FLIGHT CREW INITIATED A GO-AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT REACHED A MAXIMUM ROLL TO THE RIGHT OF 8.09 DEGREES AT A PITCH OF 5.62 DEGREES, SIGNIFYING THE POINT OF THE POD STRIKE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS THEN VECTORED BY AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR A SAFE AUTOLAND LANDING ON RUNWAY 07R IN ANCHORAGE. SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION BY AIRPORT PERSONNEL DETERMINED THAT THE AIRCRAFT HAD ALSO STRUCK AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO A RUNWAY EDGE LIGHT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
