## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JANUARY 30, 2024, AT APPROXIMATELY 10:28 AM, AN EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR BUILT VAN’S AIRCRAFT RV-6, CRASHED APPROXIMATELY ½ MILE SOUTH OF BUCHANAN FIELD AIRPORT (CCR), NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF CONCORD AVENUE AND DIAMOND BOULEVARD UNDER UNKNOWN CIRCUMSTANCES. THE AIRCRAFT HAD JUST DEPARTED IN A SOUTHERN DIRECTION WHEN THE CRASH OCCURRED. THE AIRCRAFT HAD 1 SOLE ONBOARD WHO SUSTAINED FATAL INJURY. SURVEILLANCE VIDEO FOOTAGE OBTAINED FROM A CAR DEALERSHIP WITH DIRECT LINE OF SIGHT OF THE CRASH SCENE SHOW THE AIRCRAFT IN A NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED IMPACTING A STREET JUST MISSING MOVING CARS. VIDEO DEPICTS AN UNDETERMINED AMOUNT OF FUEL SPRAY AT IMPACT BUT NO POST-CRASH FIRE. ONE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK WITH A GLANCING IMPACT TO THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE, AND THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED A MINOR LEG INJURY AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL.

THIS ACCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO THE OAKLAND FSDO INITIALLY TELEPHONICALLY BY A WITNESS OF THE EVENT. OUR FAA IIC WHO WAS AT CCR FOR UNRELATED BUSINESS CONTACTED THE ROC THEN PROCEEDED TO THE ACCIDENT SCENE. 911 EMERGENCY SERVICES WERE ALERTED AND ALREADY ON SCENE WHEN THE FAA IIC SHOWED UP. A WITNESS REPORTED THEY HEARD THE ENGINE STOP, RESTART, AND STOP AGAIN BEFORE THE AIRCRAFT STALLED AND NOSED INTO THE GROUND. FIRST RESPONDERS ON SCENE INCLUDED THE CONCORD PD AND CONCORD FD.

THESE ARE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS THAT CAN BE RECALLED FROM THE TIME OF THE EVENT.

THE LEVEL OF INJURY TO THE PASSENGER IN THE CAR WAS AT LEAST OF MINOR CIRCUMSTANCES. IF ANY FURTHER UPDATES TO THE PASSENGER ARISE, AN AMENDMENT WILL BE CREATED.
