## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

-MISHAP FLIGHT WAS SECOND OF TWO PLANNED FLIGHTS OF THE DAY FOR THE TWO PILOTS.

-LEFT SEAT PILOT FLYING (PF) WAS A LOW-TIME PRIVATE PILOT WITH NO INSTRUMENT TIME.

-RIGHT SEAT PILOT MONITORING (PM) WAS AN EXPERIENCED ATP/CFII AND WAS PIC INSTRUCTING THE PF.

-THIS WAS THE PF’S FIRST EXPOSURE TO A COMPLEX AIRCRAFT.

-THE FIRST FLIGHT WAS UNEVENTFUL.

-THE MISHAP FLIGHT WAS THE PF’S SECOND EVER LANDING AND FIRST NIGHT LANDING IN THE MISHAP AIRCRAFT.

-THE SECOND FLIGHT WAS UNEVENTFUL UNTIL PRIOR TO THE FAF WHEN THE GEAR WAS LOWERED IN PREPARATION FOR LANDING.

-AFTER GEAR EXTENSION, THE GREEN GEAR DOWN LIGHT WAS “FLICKERING” INSTEAD OF THE EXPECTED SOLID GREEN LIGHT.

-THE PM PUSHED FORWARD ON THE JOHNSON BAR TO CONFIRM IT WAS LATCHED IN THE FORWARD POSITION. THIS CAUSED THE GEAR DOWN LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE STEADY INDICATING THE GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED.

-THE GEAR WARNING HORN DID NOT SOUND AS THE POWER WAS REDUCED DURING THE APPROACH. THIS ALSO INDICATED THE GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED.

-FINAL APPROACH SPEED WAS A FEW KNOTS FAST.

-DURING THE FLARE, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN AT A HIGH ENOUGH DESCENT RATE TO BOUNCE BACK INTO THE AIR.

-THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED AGAIN AND BOUNCED SLIGHTLY FOR THE SECOND TIME.

-AT THIS POINT, THE PIC TOOK CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT TO COMPLETE THE LANDING.

-AS THE AIRCRAFT WAS SETTLING BACK DOWN, BOTH PILOTS HEARD AND FELT THE PROP HITTING THE RUNWAY SURFACE.

-SOMETIME DURING THE TWO BOUNCES, THE GEAR BECAME UNLOCKED AND FOLDED BACK INTO THE WHEEL WELLS AS THE AIRCRAFT DESCENDED TO THE RUNWAY SURFACE.

-THE AIRCRAFT TRAVELED ON ITS BELLY DOWN THE RUNWAY FOR ABOUT 250 FEET AND CAME TO A STOP.

-THE GREEN GEAR DOWN LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED STEADY GREEN THROUGHOUT THE MISHAP SEQUENCE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
