## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT THE STUDENT PILOT WAS FLYING UNDER SIMULATED IMC CONDITIONS USING IFR TRAINING FOGGLES PRACTICING AN ILS APPROACH TO RUNWAY 9R. AIRCRAFT WAS THEN SWITCHED TO TOWER AND CLEARED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 9C. THE IFR TRAINING FOGGLES WERE REMOVED FOR THE APPROACH AND IT WAS NOTICED THE AIRCRAFT WAS LOW. CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS THEN SWITCHED TO THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR. AN ATTEMPT TO ADD POWER WAS TRIED BUT THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR STATED HE FELT LIKE HE GOT NO RESPONSE FROM THROTTLE MOVEMENT. FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR STATED HE THEN PITCHED THE NOSE DOWN IN AN ATTEMPT TO GAIN AIRSPEED BUT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN A PROPER GLIDE PATH TO THE RUNWAY TOUCHDOWN ZONE. THE AIRCRAFT HIT A PARKED UNOCCUPIED PA28-181 AIRCRAFT ON THE RAMP PRECEDING THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD OF RUNWAY 9C. THE AIRCRAFT THEN SKIDDED INTO THE GRASS AREA SHORT OF TAXIWAY K WITH THE LEFT-WING CATCHING FIRE. 3 PERSONS ON BOARD, 1 PILOT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA124](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA124), Feb 27, 2024: Cirrus Design SR20 (N485DA), Sanford, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation and the flight crew’s mismanagement of the available fuel.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
