## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER ROTATION AND CLIMBING TO APPROXIMATELY 50 AGL, WITH LANDING GEAR RAISED, PILOT EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER. WHILE PILOT WAS MANAGING THE ENGINE CONTROLS, (MIXTURE, PROP, THROTTLE, FUEL PUMP), THE AIRCRAFT LOST ALTITUDE AND CRASHED ON THE RUNWAY. A DETAILED INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT AND POWERPLANT WAS PERFORMED AFTER IT WAS MOVED TO THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HANGAR. THE FOLLOWING WERE CHECKED: OIL, FUEL QUANTITY AND FLOW, CYLINDER COMPRESSION, ENGINE BORESCOPE, IGNITION PLUGS FOR SPARK AFTER MAG ROTATION. NO OBVIOUS DEFECTS WERE FOUND. THE AIRCRAFT HAS BOTH A MECHANICAL AND ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP. PILOT STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP WAS NOT ON DURING FLIGHT AND THE CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS FOUND TRIPPED, ALTHOUGH FUEL FLOW WAS CONFIRMED AFTER APPLYING ELECTRICAL POWER. THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED ON THE GROUND, THEREFORE, A ROOT CAUSE COULD NOT ESTABLISHED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA161](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA161), Mar 29, 2024: Navion Navion B (N5429K), Sanford, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A sudden loss of all engine power during takeoff for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
