## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

A DE-ICING TRUCK BACKED UP TO SPRAY MORE DE-ICING AGENT ON THE RIGHT WING. THE DRIVER THOUGHT HE HAD ENOUGH CLEARANCE BUT DIDN’T HAVE THIS VERIFIED. WHILE BACKING, THE TRUCK CONTACTED THE R1 SERVICE DOOR CAUSING A DENT APPROXIMATELY 14 X 7 INCHES. THE PLANE RETURNED TO THE GATE AND PASSENGERS DEPLANED NORMALLY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THERE WERE NO UNUSUAL TIME PRESSURE OR OTHER CONTRIBUTING FACTORS.

THE PLANE WAS INSPECTED AND HAD A FERRY FLIGHT TO A MAINTENANCE BASE WHERE THE R1 SERVICE DOOR WAS REPLACED. THIS IS CLASSIFIED AS AN “INCIDENT” RESULTING IN A “MAJOR” REPAIR. ALL PROCEDURES WERE FOLLOWED EXCEPT THE TRUCK DRIVER NOT VERIFYING CLEARANCE BEFORE BACKING UP.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
