## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE FLYING FROM ROCHESTER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KRST) TO KIRK FIELD (KPGR) PILOT REPORTED LOSS OF ENGINE POWER 10 MILES SOUTHEAST OF SULLIVAN REGIONAL AIRPORT (KUUV). THE AIRCRAFT MADE AN OFF-AIRPORT LANDING IN A FIELD WHERE IT COLLIDED WITH TREES DURING THE LANDING ROLL OUT. THE AIRCRAFTS WINGS SEPARATED FROM THE FUSELAGE UPON IMPACT AND WERE FOUND TO BE LOCATED JUST BEHIND WHERE THE FUSELAGE CAME TO REST BETWEEN TWO TREES. THE ENGINE WAS DISCOVERED WITH A 6 INCH FRACTURE ON THE CASE HALF AND # 3 CYLINDER WAS DAMAGED DUE TO CRANKSHAFT FRACTURE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN24LA155](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN24LA155), Apr 11, 2024: Piper PA-32-301 (N651ED), Sullivan, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: A bearing failure that resulted in fatigue failure of the crankshaft and a subsequent total loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
