As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APRIL 22, 2024, THE PILOT OF A BEECH AIRCRAFT CORPORATION B24R WAS OBSERVED TAKING OFF AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED WITH POPPING AND SPUTTERING SOUNDS EMINATING FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS OBSERVED CLIMBING AT A LOW ANGLE AND ATTEMPTING A LEFT BANK, THEN IMPACTED THE GROUND IN A FIELD APPROXIMATELY 1500 FEET NORTH OF THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT INCURRED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR, FUSELAGE, AND PRIMARY FLIGHT CONTROL SURAFCES, AND THE PILOT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITALIZED WITH INJURIES.

POST-ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED LOW #2 CYLINDER COMPRESSION (INTAKE VALVE), WITH EVIDENCE OF CORROSION ON THE #2 CYLINDER WALL AND LEFT MAGNETO IMPULSE COUPLING.

THIS REPORT MAY BE AMENDED IF FURTHER INFORMATION IS RECEIVED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA190](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA190), Apr 22, 2024: Beech B24R (N53EM), Lumberton Township, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot/owner’s failure to ensure adequate maintenance of the airplane, which resulted in a partial loss of engine power during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
