## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 30 APRIL 2024, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ LANDED ON ROWLEY ROAD IN BURMESTER, UT AFTER EXPERIENCING ENGINE IDLE ROUGHNESS. THE PILOT SUCCESSFULLY LANDED THE AIRCRAFT. AFTER AN INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE AND SUBSEQUENT ENGINE RUN UP WITH NORMAL RESULTS, THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO TAKE OFF FROM THE ROAD. UPON REACHING ROTATION SPEED (VR), THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND DRIFTED TO THE RIGHT OF THE ROAD. THE AIRCRAFT THEN STRUCK A LARGE SHRUB WITH ITS RIGHT WING CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP AND COME TO REST ON ITS TOP. MINOR INJURIES TO THE PILOTS HEAD OCCURED ALONG WITH NECK SORENESS. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE OCCURED TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA143](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA143), Apr 30, 2024: Thatcher CX4 (N440BS), Rowley, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the takeoff roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
