## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT AND PASSENGER REFUELED THE AIRCRAFT, AND THE PILOT STARTED AIRCRAFT AND PERFORMED A PREFLIGHT CHECK. AIRCRAFT DEPARTED RUNWAY (A GRASS FIELD WITH A DOWNHILL DECLINE) AND FLEW AROUND THE LOCAL AREA FOR APPROXAMATELY 30 MINUTES. THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO RUNWAY, THE PILOT APPLIED BRAKES AND THE AIRCRAFT VEERED LEFT OFF THE RUNWAY AND HIT A UTILITY TRAILER. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE TRAILER AND THE TRAILER EMBEDDED ITSELF INTO THE BELLY OF THE AIRCRAFT. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER, RIGHT WING STRUT, LANDING GEAR AND THE UNDERSIDE OF THE FUSELAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA213](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA213), May 1, 2024: Piper J3C-65 (N6872H), Apex, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of directional control during the landing roll for reasons that could not be determined, due to impact damage sustained to the brake system.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
