## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 8, 2024 AT APPROXIMATELY 6:00 PM LOCAL TIME, THE STUDENT PILOT OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, A RANS RV-12 LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT, WHILE FLYING SOLO, WAS PRACTICING TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS AT BAY BRIDGE AIRPORT (W29) WHEN THE PILOT EXPERIENCED AN INCIDENT DURING HIS 3RD TAKEOFF OF THE DAY. DURING TAKEOFF ROLL ON RUNWAY 29 THE STUDENT LOST CONTROL AND EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT SIDE. THE INCIDENT OCCURED JUST PRIOR TO LIFTOFF AS THE NOSE WHEEL HAD LIFTED OFF WHILE THE MAIN GEAR REMAIND ON THE SURFACE. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS DISTRACTED AS HE LOOKED DOWN AT THE AIRSPEED INDICATOR TO OBSERVE THAT HE WAS APPROACHING ROTATION SPEED. WHILE DOING SO HE NOTICED HE WAS DRIFFTING TO THE LEFT AS THE NOSE WHEEL CAME OFF OF THE GROUND. AT THAT POINT HE REDUCED POWER AND GOT ON THE BRAKES BUT COULD NOT KEEP IT ON THE RUNWAY AND EXITED THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS AND THROUGH A DITCH APPROXIMATLEY 500 FEET FROM WHERE HE BEGAN HIS TAKOFF ROLL. HE WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT AND WAS UNINJURED. THE AIRPLANE SUSTAIND ONLY MINOR DAMAGE. THE LEFT WING TIPS TRAILING EDGE WAS DAMAGED AS THE AIRPLANE ROLLED THROUGH THE DITCH TO THE OTHER SIDE .

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
