## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH FOR RUNWAY 1R AT WASHINGTON DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (IAD), ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STRUCK A BIRD AT THE BASE OF THE NUMBER (2) ENGINE INLET RING THAT SUBSEQUENTLY INGESTED INTO THE ENGINE. AIRCRAFT LANDED AND TAXIED TO THE RAMP WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MINOR DAMAGE WAS NOTED TO THE INLET RING. INSPECTION OF THE NUMBER (2) ENGINE REVEALED NO DAMAGE OTHER THAN INGESTED BIRD MATTER. THE NUMBER (2) ENGINE WAS DISASSEMBLED AS REQUIRED TO REMOVE BIRD MATTER AND REASSEMBLED. A VIBRATION ANALYSIS, FAN BALANCE, AND 5-POINT PERFORMANCE RUN TO VERIFY ENGINE OPERATION WAS CONDUCTED WITH WITH NO DEFECTS NOTED. THE NUMBER (2) ENGINE INLET RING WAS REPLACED AND AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
