## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FOLLOWING THIS INVESTIGATION, I DID NOT IDENTIFY ANY REGULATORY VIOLATIONS OR PILOT PROFICIENCY ISSUES AS CAUSAL FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THIS ACCIDENT. PER NTSB REQUEST, A MAINTENANCE INSPECTOR, OPERATORS MECHANIC, AND MYSELF LOOKED AT THE AIRCRAFT TO VERIFY THE PARKING BRAKE HANDLE ISSUE THE PILOT HAD QUESTIONED' THE PARKING BRAKE HANDLE HAD SOME BINDING WHEN YOU TRIED TO PULL AND/OR RESET THE HANDLE. WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE WAS SET AND YOU TWISTED TO RELEASE THE HANDLE, THE HANDLE WOULD NOT RESET ALL THE WAY IN, THEREFORE NOT RELEASING ALL THE PRESURE. WE VERIFIED WITH A SIMILAR MAKE/MODEL AIRCRAFT AND FOUND THAT THE PARKING BRAKE HANDLE PULLED/RESET NORMALLY WITH NO NOTICABLE BINDING. BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT BRAKE APPEARED LOCKED AFTER TOUCHDOWN WITH CORRELATED TIRE WEAR. GAVE REQESTED INFORMATON TO NTSB FOR THEIR INVESTIGATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA192](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA192), May 19, 2024: SIAI Marchetti SM. 1019 (N992BB), Twin Bridges, MT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The binding of the parking brake cable, which resulted in un-commanded brake application during the landing roll and subsequent nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
