## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE FLYING FOR A FISH SPOTTING OPERATION IN THE GULF OF MEXICO THE PILOT NOTICED SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT. HE CHECKED HIS GAGES AND NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS LOSING OIL PRESSURE. HE STARTED LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING AND SAW AN ISLAND BEACH WHERE HE LANDED THE AIRCRAFT. UPON LANDING THE NOSE WHEEL DUG INTO SAND CAUSING IT TO SHEER REARWARD RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE CAUSE OF THE SMOKE AND LOSE OF OIL PRESSURE WAS A BROKEN OIL PRESSURE TRANSMITTER LINE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
