AIRCRAFT DEPARTED BENNETT AIRPORT (1N5). MINUTES AFTER DEPARTURE IN DIRECTION BACK TO THE AIRPORT, AIRCRAFT SUDDENLY CRASHED IN A NEARBY FIELD. DUE TO PILOT AND PASSENGER INJURIES, NEITHER ONE HAS ANY RECOLLECTION OF THE EVENS LEADING TO THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA24LA229](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA24LA229), May 26, 2024: Great Lakes 2T-1(Menasco Special) (N818K), Salisbury, MD, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s exceedance of the airplane’s critical angle of attack, resulting in an aerodynamic stall and loss of control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
