BEFORE REACHING THE RUNWAY THE ENGINE QUIT RUNNING AND THE PILOT INITIATED AN EMERGENCY LANDING, WHICH WAS SHORT OF THE RUNWAY INTO A DITCH, STRIKING BRUSH AND TREES CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
