## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 28TH, 2024, A TAILWHEEL AIRPLANE HAD AN ACCIDENT AT THE MCCALL AIRPORT(KMYL). THE AIRPLANE ENCOUNTERED A STRONG GUST OF WIND ON THE LANDING ROLL OUT THAT SPUN THE TAIL OUT, WHICH CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO SKID. THE LANDING GEAR BOLT FAILED AND SHEARED CAUSING THE GEAR TO COLLAPSE. THIS CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE, WING, AND PROP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA170](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA170), May 28, 2024: Cessna 180J (N275DM), McCall, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll with a gusty right crosswind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
