## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT NOTICED A BURNING SMELL ACCOMPANIED BY HIGH TEMPERATURES AND LANDED ON A RIDGE TOP, THE CLOSEST EMERGENCY LANDING AREA. THE PILOT PERFORMED AN EXTENDED GROUND RUN UP, SATISFIED THAT HE COULD DEPART TO A SAFER DESTINATION. THE PILOT SHUT DOWN THE AIRCRAFT WALKED ONLY ABOUT 20 FEET OF THE DEPARTURE AREA. ON DEPARTURE, APPROXIMATELY HALFWAY DOWN TAKE OFF ROLL, HE ENCOUNTERED A HOLE AND ROCK THAT JAMMED THE RIGHT TIRE PITCHING THE AIRCRAFT ONTO THE PROP AND LEFT WING. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST INVERTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
