## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON THE MORNING OF MAY 31, 2024, THE PART 107 PILOT, WHO WAS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE INSURANCE COMPANY, FLEW HIS DRONE TO INSPECT A ROOF FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES AFTER A TREE HAD FALLEN ON IT. AS THE DRONE LIFTED OFF, IT MADE CONTACT WITH A SMALL BRANCH IN A TREE ABOUT 15 FEET IN THE AIR OVER THE DRIVEWAY OF THE HOUSE BEING INSPECTED. THE DRONE VEERED TO THE SIDE AND FELL ON THE WINDSHIELD AND HOOD OF THE HOMEOWNER’S UNOCCUPIED PARKED VAN. THE DRONES WAS A 2024 DJI MAVIC 3 ENTERPRISE WITH FAA REGISTRATION NUMBER FA3XLTEPNN AND SERIAL NUMBER 1581F5FHD23BN00D025F. PILOT STATED THAT HE DID NOT SEE THE BRANCH BEFORE THE DRONE IMPACTED THE BRANCH AND THE PILOT LOST CONTROL AND THE DRONE DROPPED ONTO THE CARS WINDSHIELD AND BOUNCED ONTO THE HOOD OF THE VAN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
