## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FIRST TAKEOFF WAS ABORTED DUE TO SOFT PATCHES ON THE RUNWAY

DURING THE SECOND TAKEOFF FROM THIS REMOTE DIRT AIRSTRIP, THE PILOT ROTATED AND STARTED CLIMBING OUT. HE REACHED THE TREE TOPS WHEN A GUST OF WIND BLEW THE AIRCRAFT INTO THE TREES WHERE IT ENDED UP 90 DEGREES TO THE RUNWAY FACING INTO THE TREES. WITNESS'S STATED IT HAPPENED VERY FAST. THE PILOT STATED BEFORE HE WAS ABLE TO APPLY ENOUGH FLIGHT CONTROL INPUT, IT WAS TOO LATE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS OFF COURSE INTO THE TREES. LOCAL AREA WEATHER WAS REPORTING GUSTY WIND CONDITIONS WITH NO THUNDER STORMS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC24LA046](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC24LA046), Jun 8, 2024: Cessna 206 (N8795Q), Fairbanks, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during takeoff in gusting wind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
