## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE POSITIONING TO CONDUCT GLIDER TOW OPERATIONS FOR COMPENSATION, THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. DURING LANDING ROLLOUT ON RUNWAY 15, ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED AN UNEXPECTED RIGHT CROSSWIND. PILOT CONTROL INPUT WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO PREVENT THE AIRCRAFT FROM YAWING TO THE RIGHT AND DEPARTING THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED FORWARD FOR APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS WHERE THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR MAIN MOUNT DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT CAUSING THE RIGHT WING TO CONTACT THE SURFACE, WHICH SPUN THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT APPROXIMATELY 180 DEGREES BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. ON-SCENE INVESTIGATION DETERMINED THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT TIRES, THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUFFICIENTLY FUELED, AND FLIGHT CONTROLS WERE IN OPERABLE CONDITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR24LA197](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR24LA197), Jun 13, 2024: Piper PA-25-235 (N4625Y), Fernley, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during gusting wind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
